Job description
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based at Head Office in Cobham.
The purpose of the role is to be responsible for statutory external reporting including the Statutory Accounts. To work closely with the Financial Controller to maintain strong system controls and processes and drive system improvements.
The role will have one direct report and work closely with the wider Finance team.
Key responsibilities include
Accounting & reporting and governance:
Manage and develop the month end reconciliations process
Review and investigate the weekly Correction Reports
Maintain the Chart of Account
Oversee the audit processes and preparation of files for audit and tax fieldwork (internal and external)
Production of the statutory Financial Statements for all group companies
Production of the consolidation of all ACS companies and group statutory Financial Statements
Point of contact on all tax and insurance queries for the group
Assist with the life assurance, PMI and insurance renewals
Responsible for tax matters including VAT, Corporation tax, PSA, CIS, etc, including compliance updates
Responsible for FCA reporting and compliance
Assist with the preparation of Investment & Risk and Finance & Audit board sub committee papers
Systems and controls:
Oversee the ParentPay system
Systems administration for accounting and banking applications for the group (Access Dimensions, Focal Point, online banking, including the Onecard)
Support systems improvements and upgrades
Support improvements to increase engagement in Finance systems and process development
Manage the Fixed Asset Register and drive system improvements
Enhance the ACS Doha Purchase to Pay process including file uploads to the online banking system
Treasury and banking:
Approval of payments on system for all group companies
Treasury management including updating projections for the weekly cashflow
Ownership of the bank mandates and bank administration
Knowledge, skills & experience required:
Finalist/Newly-Qualified Accountant
Good knowledge of financial accounting, tax matters and external reporting
Strong Excel and IT skills
Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to adhere to deadlines
Good finance systems knowledge and some system implementation experience
Personal qualities required:
A proactive individual committed to continuous improvement to processes and procedures
Hands on approach; comfortable getting involved in all areas when needed
Good attention to detail
A strong communicator
This is a permanent, full time position starting immediately.
